Formerly a residence of a prominent Granada family, located near the city center, the property, unfortunately, fell into semi-ruin. However, sisters Terry Leary and Nancy Bergman saw its potential and embarked on a journey to revitalize it into the charming Boutique Hotel Casa San Francisco. While Nancy took charge of overseeing the renovation and construction locally, Terry ventured overseas to curate artifacts, ensuring the hotel’s distinctive ambiance.
Their love affair with Granada began in 2002 when the sisters visited the historic city on vacation. Captivated by its allure, they wasted no time in purchasing the property within three days. This decision marked the beginning of a remarkable transformation.
Terry and Nancy’s experiences in the US Peace Corps – Terry in Sierra Leone, West Africa, and Nancy in Suriname, South America – instilled in them a deep commitment to community development, including tourism initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for locals.
Given their origins in the San Francisco Bay Area and the hotel’s proximity to the Convent of San Francisco, naming it Casa San Francisco felt like a natural choice. True to its name, the hotel exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere, reminiscent of a home away from home.
Throughout their lives, Terry and Nancy have embraced diverse cultures, fostering a deep understanding and appreciation for guests of all backgrounds. This cultural sensitivity has made Casa San Francisco a beloved sanctuary for travelers worldwide.
Recently, the hotel expanded by acquiring the adjacent property, offering new rooms to accommodate more guests. The owners and staff eagerly anticipate welcoming you not only as a guest but also as a friend to Casa San Francisco.
